The Bangladesh government’s brazenness about the continued attacks on Hindus is matched only by the silence of United Nations officials and woke mobs. It seems that the UN bodies’ view of human rights is the antithesis of the real one: they find human rights violations where they do not exist (as in Gaza), and not where atrocities against religious minorities are happening every day increasing (as in Gaza). Bangladesh).
Last month, Volker Turk, head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, condemned Israel’s “apparent indifference” to the killing of civilians in Gaza. A report by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) cited “widespread or systematic” attacks on civilians, which could amount to “crimes against humanity.” It said: “And if committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, they may also constitute genocide.”
This against a country that takes the utmost care to minimize or even eliminate civilian casualties and uses precision weapons whose ethos is in line with modern ideas of humanism, equality and fairness.
While Turk sees genocide in Gaza, where it does not exist, he sees no atrocities worth mentioning in Bangladesh. Attacks and intimidation of HindusBuddhists and Christians started immediately after Sheikh Hasina’s ouster on August 5, but even after almost three months he saw nothing wrong. During his visit to Bangladesh, he said on October 30: ‘Transitions always entail risks – and this applies even more to vulnerable groups. I commend the efforts of students and others to protect minorities. And our fact-finding mission is investigating allegations of attacks on minorities between August 5 and 15.”
Who, please, are the “students and others” who protect the minorities, Mr. Turk? And when will your “fact-finding mission” submit its report? After the Islamists slaughtered them all?
Turk also said: “It is critical that authorities respond quickly to reported incidents, conducting thorough investigations and holding perpetrators accountable. This will help build trust among minority communities, especially in light of disturbing campaigns of misinformation and disinformation, as well as hate campaigns on social media.” It is a well-known fact that authorities not only do not “respond quickly to any incidents reported”, they also tend to downplay these incidents and seem to go hand in hand with the perpetrators.
For too long the UN and its agencies have been allowed to be run by woke mobs. Although these radicals have consistently opposed Israel, the West and the US, they have ignored or downplayed the violence of Islamists. Their bias is blatant – so blatant that in August the UN was forced to admit that nine staffers from the United Nations Relief & Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) may have been involved in the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. . The nine were dismissed, but this has had little effect on the jihad-compliant activities of the UN bodies.
In Bangladesh and elsewhere, however, a deserved reward seems inevitable. To begin with, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unlikely to allow such a situation to continue in the eastern neighbours; he would not want Islamists to tarnish his image as a leader committed to the security of Hindus.
With Donald Trump taking the oath of office as US President on January 21 next year, woke mobs around the world, including in the UN, will find it difficult to pursue their nefarious agendas. Trump has already condemned “barbaric” violence against Hindus, Christians and other minorities. A former Trump aide and former US Commissioner for International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) Johnnie Moore has described the situation in Bangladesh as an “existential threat” not only to the targeted communities but to the nation itself.
“But I can also tell you this: Donald Trump is coming to town in Washington, DC, and he’s coming to town with an incredible team of advocates for American values, who see countries like India as indispensable allies in shaping the future of the world. world,” Moore told a news agency.
Even leaders of the US Democratic Party are growing restless over the treatment of Bangladesh’s minorities. This is despite the fact that their party leader, incumbent President Joe Biden, has spoiled Bangladesh’s Interim Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, who on his part has spoiled the jihadists; For example, Yunus freed Jashimuddin Rahmani, who was in prison for the murder of a blogger.
An influential US lawmaker, Congressman Brad Sherman of the Democratic Party, said in a recent statement: “The interim government of Bangladesh has an absolute obligation to protect its Hindu minority and to meaningfully address the protests of thousands of minority Hindus outraged by the recent wave of attacks. and intimidation.”
Not surprisingly, even the Biden administration, beset by radical leftists, seems to be finding it difficult to ignore Yunus’ duplicity and unscrupulous behavior. A US State Department spokesperson said in Washington that Dhaka must provide “appropriate” legal representation for all detainees, in accordance with basic human rights principles. This was in the wake of arrested Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari’s inability to find a lawyer to defend him.
In the near future, there will be more pressure on Yunus’ Islamist-friendly regime. Because the world, especially India and the US, has seen the ignoble truth behind the Nobel facade.
